Meeting Kidus

We arrived in Addis Ababa at about 8am. Woudnah (our agency's in country director) picked us up and whisked us off to the transition house. Nervousness, anticipation and excitement were the mix of our feelings.

Kidus was gone getting his immunizations when we got there. A lovely woman made some breakfast for us and the next thing we know one of the nanny's is walking in with a baby and placed him in Jeremy's arms... Kidus.
What a mix of feelings. Very surreal. It was a short lived moment as we held Kidus for about 15 minutes and then headed out for a day long adventure outside the city (I'll tell you about that in another post.)

We did not have the chance to see Kidus until the next morning. Jeremy got up early and I slept in a bit. I don't know how long Jeremy was gone but the next thing I knew Jeremy was coming into our room holding Kidus. We layed him down on the bed and had a great time of snuggling and getting to know him. This is the moment I started to connect with our new son. He was very interactive. He smiled and laughed and made great eye contact with us.

We spent much of the day playing with Kidus, getting to know the other adoptive families that were there and playing with the other kids at the transition home.

Over the next few days we learned he loves zerberts, kisses and snuggles. He and Jeremy took multiple naps on the couch with Kidus on Jeremy's chest.
We started the process of falling in love with our son this week. We can't wait to bring him home and begin the journey of loving him for a lifetime.

Can't wait to see him in person.
Love the way he is looking at you Amy in the second pic., and the contentment while sleeping on Jeremy's chest.
Praying Kidus will be home with his Mommy, Daddy, Sister, and Brother very soon.
