Run for Water

Yesterday was one of my favorite annual events.  Each year our church does a "Run for Water" to raise money  for wells in countries where clean water is hard to come by.  We partner with Living Water International and have sent multiple teams out specifically to Haiti and Hondurous.

I love this event because it combines two things I love.  1) Doing something that makes a meaningful difference and 2) doing something active with our entire family.

Grant especially has developed a competitve drive.  This was his fourth or fifth 1-mile race and he is determined to improve with each one.  He not only ran a PR today (9:50), but he ran with his sweet friend Micah.  As he started to pass Micah on the course, Grant called out "come run with me Micah!"  They ran the rest of the race together and both got metals.

Anna worked hard and got her first metal today for the 1-mile race.  She posted a 9:27.

The great thing though is that although both the kids had fun getting their metals, they seemed to understand that the most important thing was doing something to help others, regardless of how fast they ran.

I loved being out in a foggy morning running with my family and enjoying the camaradarie of people who love to have fun and love to help others.

Thanks to Paul Warren for the pictures...

Love the concentration and determination

Even Kidus got to be involved
